INVALIDS’ ARTWORK, festival. The first oblast festival of invalids’ artwork took place in November 1991 in Gatchina Town. In 1996 the festival was included in a regional special-purpose program “Social Support of the Leningrad Oblast Invalids”. Promoters – Culture Committee and Labour and Social Welfare Committee under the Leningrad Oblast Government, the Leningrad Oblast Branch of the All-Russia Invalids’ Association, Gatchina Town Centre of Social and Cultural Activities. Creativity groups and single performers from nursing homes, oblast rehabilitation centres, involved in different creative activities such as: singing, choreography, recitation, playing musical instruments, singing in a choir, take part in annual festivals. Selection stages are held in oblast specialized houses during a year. As a result of the contest prize-winners are awarded prizes and bonuses. Festival framework includes applied art exhibitions “Kind Hands’ Handicraft”, children’s festival “Bells of Hope, Little Bells of Love”, concerts given by professional and amateur performers, contest and game programs. Scenarios are developed by Coordination and Methodology Centre at Gatchina Centre of Social and Cultural Activities supported by the Leningrad Oblast Education and Methodology Centre of Culture and Arts. In 2006 the festival was held in Syasstroy Town.а
