Batovo, an estate (the village of Batovo, the Gatchina district). Located on the bank of the River Oredezh village of Batovo was granted by Paul I to Major-General P.F. Malyutin, an ex-officer of the Gatchina units. In 1800 Malyutin presented the estate of Batovo to Anastasiya Matveyevna Ryleyeva, the mother of the poet-decembrist K.F. Ryleyev. After her death in 1824 K.F. Ryleyev became the owner of Batovo, and his friends from the North Society came to the estate. When he was in the fortress in expectation of the sentence, Ryleyev ordered to sell the estate (900 dessiatinas ( 1 dessiatina = approx. 2 3/4 acres ) and 60 serves) for paying his debts. It was made only in 1827. Since 1854 the fmily of baron Korf became the owner of Batovo. A new wooden house with a belvedere was built for them and the park was noticeably enlarged. The estate of Batovo was described in works by V.V. Nabokov which had been in the estate of his grandmother maiya Ferdinandovna, nee Korf. In 1914 Batovo was sold to the joint-stock company "Ctroitel" (The Builder) which arranged a saw-mill there. The estate building was burned in 1923. A part of the park was preserved to present day, in 1970 the stele with a bas-relief of Ryleyev was built there.
