FESTIVAL OF KARELIAN ART. It was held in Priozersk Town in June 1999. The founders are: the Leningrad Oblast Government Culture Committee, the Culture Committee under Municipal Institution “Priozersky Raion” (“Priozersk District”). On the territory of Museum-Fortress “Korela” a theatrical performance was held, Karelian folk groups from the Leningrad Oblast, professional actors from St.Petersburg as well as guests from Tver City, Petrozavodsk City and Finland took part in the festival. Near the Fortress walls a handicraft fair was held by craftsmen. Festival framework included exhibitions of floristics, amateur artists, Karelian-Finnish and Russian archeology. Lectures on local history “Kiakisalmi-Korela-Keksgolm-Priozersk: Vchera, Segodnya, Zavtra” (“Kiakisalmi-Korela-Keksgolm-Priozersk: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”) were held. The lectures were delivered by Russian and foreign scientists-ethnographers, researchers in history and culture of Karelia and Finland - Paulo Koho and professor R.M Olenin, museum workers from Vyborg and Priozersk Towns.
