"Sablinsky", a natural monument

The "Sablinsky" is the state complex natural monument. It is located in the territory of the Tosno District and its area is 220 hectares. It is governed by the Government of the Leningrad Oblast. The purpose of the foundation is the conservation of natural complex of rivers valleys Sablinka and Tosna that includes the yields ancient geological rocks (Cambrian and Ordovician sandstones), the curative clay deposits, waterfalls (Tosnensky and Sablinski), artificial caves which was formed during more than 150 years of exploitation sandstone by the room-and-pillar method, Sablinskiy park, rare species of flora and Fauna (in the caves there is the largest wintering area of the bats in the region). In this area there is burial mounds and the place of probable location of the camp of Alexander Nevsky before the battle with the Swedes in 1240. At present time the Sablinskaya educational and scientific base of the St. Petersburg State University locates here. Tripolskaya, Anna Aleksandrovna
