The town residences of monasteries. There were two periods of the town residences establising in the St. Petesburg Gubernia/Leningrad Oblast: 1) the late 19th - the early 20th century, 2) the late 20th century. In the period the town residences were established with the general aim to have representative offices of provincial monasteries in cities and big towns of the capital eparchy (including for the collection of donations). In the second period town residences and scetes were generally established by the Petersburg monasteries in countrysides as subsidiary farmings. In 1896 the Pyatogorsky Convent of the Mother of God town residence was established in Gatchina, the stone church of the Patronage of the most Holy Queen, Mother of God was constructed in 1905-1914 in this town residence. In 1900 the Resurection Monastery town residence was established in the town of Lyuban, in 1901 the domestic church of the raising of the Holy Cross was built (it was closed in 1932, burned in autumn 1943). In 1911 the House of Diligence in Lyuban was passed to the town residence of the Verkhneuralsk Convent of the Patronage of the most Holy Queen, Mother of God, here the domestic church of the Icon of the Mother of God ""Collections of the Deceased"" was blessed in 1904 (it was closed in the 1920s, it has not survived). In 1904 the the Staraya Ladoga Monastery of the Dormition town residence was established at the Railway Station Zvanka (now it is the town of Volkhovstroy) and the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built, in 1920 the chapel was blessed as a church (it was closed in 1926, has not survived). In 1913 a town residence of the Iletsk Convent of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the Orenburg Eparchy was opened in the town of Ivangorod, on the second floor of its stone building in 1913-1915 the domestic church of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God was constructed (the architect A.P. Aplaksin,; the church was closed and destroyed in 1944-1945). In 1915 at the Railway Station Pella (now it is the town of Otradnoye of the Kirovsk district) the wooden church of the Transfiguration of Christ was built in the town residence of the Peking Spiritual Mission (the church was blessed in 1915, closed in the 1930s, has not survived). In 1917 a town residence of the Moskvinsky Convent of the Dormition was established in Vyritsa; in the wooden building of the residence in 1918 the church of the Dormition of the Mother of God was blessed (from 1932 the church became the parish one, was closed in 1929, during 1941-1944 the independent convent of the Dormition of the Mother of God was being; the church was closed in 1945, has not survived). In 1933 in Vyborg a church was built in the town residence of the Lintula Convent of the Holy Trinity (the church was burned in 1940). The establishing of town residences was renewed in the 1990s. From 1990 the church of All Saints in Priozersk has worked as the church in the town residence of the Valaam Monastery of the Saviour- Tramsfiguration. From 1991 the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Priozersk has been working as the church of the town residence of the Konevets Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. In 1993 the church of of Sts. Sophia and her Three Daughters, Faith, Hope and Charity located in the village of Vartemyagi was passed for the church of the town residence of the Convent of St. John. In 1999 in the settlement of Lisino-Korpus the town residence of the Resurection Convent of the Maidens was established and the church of the Procession of the Venerable and Life-giving Cross, the Holy Cross Day was passed to it.
