MILITARY AND HISTORICAL FESTIVITIES AND ACTIVITIES. The Russian Federation federal law “O Dnyakh Voinskoy Slavy (Pobednykh Dnyakh ) Rossiy” (“About Days of Military Glory (Victory Days ) of Russia”) was issued in 1995. The oblast programme, including activities dedicated to memorable events of Russian military history, was worked out. The most part of celebrations, holidays and festivals on the territory of the Leningrad Oblast are held in places associated with the events of WWII such as “Nevsky Pyatachok” (“The Neva River Patch”), “Sinyavinskiye Vysoty” (“Sinyavino Village Hills”), “Oranienbaumsky Platsdarm” (“Oranienbaum Place of Arms”), “Luzhsky Rubezh” (“Luga Town Defensive Line”), “Doroga Zhizny” (“Road of Life”), the monuments of “Zeleny Poyas slavy” (“Green Zone of Glory”). On the 18th of January a solemn event “Na Rubezhe Bessmertiya” (“On the Edge of Immortality”), dedicated to the anniversary of Leningrad siege break, take place in Kirovsk District; every year on the day of the siege break, 27th of January, a meeting of siege survivors is organized; On May, 9th in Luga Town partisans’ inter-regional meeting is organized; the oblast action “My Rodom Ne Iz Detstva, Iz Voiny” (“We are not Born in the Childhood, We Are Born in the War”), dedicated to the International Day of Liberation of Fascist Concentration Camps Prisoners, is annually held. Since 1999 every year on June, 22nd , a Memory Day, the International festival of military patriotic songs “22 Iyunya, Rovno v 4 Chasa…” (“On June, 22nd, At 4 O’Clock Sharp…”) has been held in Rakh'ya Urban Village, Vsevolozsk District. Since 1990 oblast festival “Venok Slavy Aleksandra Nevskogo” (“Alexander Nevsky’s Wreath of Glory ”) has been held in Staraya Ladoga Village. Since 1996 a festival “Rytsarsky Zamok” (“Knight’s Castle”) has been held in Vyborg Town. Since 2000 oblast historical and folk festival “Koporskaya Potekha” (“Koporye Fun”) has been held at the walls of Koporye Fortress. Since 2004 International military and historical festival “Russkaya Krepost” (“Russian Fortress”) has been held on the territory of museum-fortress “Korela”. In 2005 military and historical fancy dress performance “Pod Shelest Znamen” (“With Banners Flying”) was held in Gatchina Town in honour of the Day of Russian Banner. Since 1990s RPGs have been held on the territory of the Leningrad Oblast, some of them are of military and historical kind and some others. Among the organizers of actions and festivals one can find leading directors of the Leningrad Oblast mass festivities, professors of the St.Petersburg University of Culture and Art, representatives of the Leningrad Oblast College of Culture and Art, Education and Methodology Centre of Culture and Art.
