Icons, revered and miracle-working. The Miracle-Working Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, according to the legend , was painted by Apostle Luke. It was moved from Jerusalem to Constantinopole, where it dissappeared in 1383 and it appeared above the water of Lake Ladoga. On 9 July 1383 it was found in the Tikhvinka River, the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin was built here, and then the Tikhvin Convent of the Dormition of the Virgin. In the end of 1941 during the occupatioin of Tikhvin the Icon was moved in Pskov, in 1944 the Icon was moved in Riga, in 1945 it appeared in Germany, and from 1949 it was in the USA . 8 July 2004 it was returned in the convent which was revived. The Miracle-Working Icon of Apostle John Theologian appeared in Lake Cheremenetsky near Luga City in 1478. It was in the Church of the Cheremenetsky Monastery of St John Theologian. From 1848 the annual icon-bearing procession tool place from the Monastery to Luga. In 1941-1998 it was in the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Luga, in 1998 it was returned in the revival Monastery and it was placed in the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ. The Miracle-Working Icon of St Paraskeva, Martyr surnamed ""Friday"" appeared in the 17th – 18th cc. Near the Grigoryevskoye Lyeshsky pogost (the village of Ilyeshi, the Volosovsky District). It was kept in the Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Ilyeshi. This unique wooden carved icon was transferred from the Russian Museum in the Trinity Cathedral of the St Alexander Nevsky Lavra in 1988. The Schlüsselburg Kazan Icon of the Mother of God (the 16th c.) was admired during the rule of Ivan the Terrible. It was placed in the chapel of the Oreshek Fortress. In 1611 the fortress was captured by Sweden and the Icon was bricked up in the wall of the chapel by citizen and then the chapel was converted into the Lutheran church. In 1702 the Icon was found after the return of the fortress to Russia. It was placed in the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Virgin in Schlüsselburg, then it was lost. The Miracle-Working Icon of the Dormition of the Most Holy Virgin (the Mother of God «Pecherskaya») was appeared in the area of Malye Pecherki (the village of Turovo) near the town of Luga in the 16th-17th cc. The medicinal spring began to flow during the finding of the Icon. In 1789 it was moved from the place of the appearance in the Cathedral of St. Catherina, Martyr in the town of Luga. From 1941 the Icon is palced in the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the town of Luga. The Miracle-Working Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, the Hodigitria of Narva was found during the capture of Narva by Russian troops in 1558. It was moved in Moscow, then it was placed in the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in the town of Ivangorod. It was lost in 1944. The Revered Icon of the Mother of God «The Sign» (1731) is a duplication of the Miracle-Working Novgorod Icon of the Mother of God «The Sign». From the middle of the 18th century it was placed in the Church of the Holy Sign of the Icon of the Mother of God in the town of Ivangorod, from 1945 it is placed in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Christ in the town of Narva.
